Saturday, May 4, 2019 Emigration Canyon 9am to 4pm $130 (lunch included)
Join us for our next Yurt Retreat (dates to be announced soon!) Check out the gallery of photos 👈 to see what fun we had!
Busy lives often translate to hectic days, and we find ourselves, at best, with just a blurred knowing of what should I do? Give yourself the gift of a day above the fray of your everyday life, to focus your intuition, to set your intentions, and to give yourself time and space for you.
Come at 9:00 to pour yourself some coffee or tea, settle in and get acquainted. Lisa Condie will start us off with some gentle stretching, breathing, and intention setting. Writing exercises led by Ella Joy Olsen and Meg Kinghorn will inspire your creativity. A delicious lunch in the fresh mountain air will provide the chance to visit and connect with one another. Our afternoon will include more writing opportunities and finish off with some meditation and inspiring stories of what is possible when we follow our intuition.
Join us on a spring day in a beautiful canyon, where we will gather in a modern yurt to commune and learn together just a short drive up Emigration Canyon Road, at the site of Camp Kostopulos (just above the notable Ruby’s Diner). Bring your yoga mat or beach towel, your notebook and pen or computer, and leave your everyday worries behind. We’ll lead you, feed you, and inspire you.
Designed for any fitness and writing abilities. Yurt is equipped with heating, plumbing, tables and chairs. It's a modern classroom in a natural setting.
Your facilitators are: Lisa Condie Lisa is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, recently returning after almost a decade of living in Florence, Italy. While raising two children, she enjoyed a career in the fitness industry that spanned 32 years. In August of 2012, she sold her home and most of what was in it, left her business, retired her aerobic shoes, said goodbye to friends and family and headed for Tuscany. Lisa owns Find Yourself In Tuscany, a luxury tour company, and is the author of I Found Myself In Tuscany, a memoir. Featured on the Today Show, Lisa was named one of Huffington Post's '50 Over 50', a risk taker who had changed her life for the better. Lisa welcomes groups of women to Tuscany, serves as a travel expert and consultant. Daily and richly, Lisa lives a life that is beyond her wildest dreams. She is a seeker of joy and a believer in serendipity.
Ella Joy Olsen Ella is the author of two novels, ROOT, PETAL,THORN (2016) and WHERE THE SWEET BIRD SINGS (2017). And is madly at work on her third. She served a year-long remote internship at the Friedman Literary Agency in New York City reading manuscript submissions, teaches writing through the University of Utah’s Lifelong Learningcontinuing education program, and spent nearly a decade on the Board of Directors for the Salt Lake City Public Library System (not to mention four additional decades browsing the stacks). She is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writing Association (WFWA) & the Historical Novel Society (HNS). She is represented by Rachel Ekstrom at Folio Literary Management. Personally, Ella is the mom of three kids ranging from about-to-drive to about-to-drink, the mama of two dogs, and the wife of one patient husband. Years ago she graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Finance and after many years analyzing numbers she gave up her corner cubicle and started writing fiction.
Meg Kinghorn Meg began a daily practice of writing as part of a friendly challenge in her writing group. Since then, journaling has become a meditative practice, a means of self discovery and a rich trove for essays and poems.
Since 2009 she has facilitated as a mentor with the DiverseCity Writing Series, a Community Writing Center program located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has been featured in their "sine cera" publication. She currently teaches Memoir and Creative Nonfiction for the University of Utah's Lifelong Learning Continuing Education program and was chosen to participate in the spring 2016 session of AWP's Writer2Writer program. She is living proof you can write yourself into the life you want.
